Add Some Color for the Summer

Can you believe summer is upon us? WOW! Many are planning vacations, cruises, stay-cations, etc. and we're looking for something fun to do with our hair.  Here are a few poppin colors for the summer and different methods to color your hair be it temporary or long term.

Colors for the summer are bright, bold and vibrant, many of which you would more than likely have to lift the color of your hair first in order to achieve the color you're looking for.  Most box colors are demi or semi hair color {read about the difference HERE}

I know most naturals are all about DIY styling but when it comes to bleaching and lifting hair color, I would go to a professional to avoid damaging your hair.  But there are more ways to add color to your hair that are safe for us DIYers!

1. Hair Chalk - An easy inexpensive option to add various shades of color to your hair. It washes out easily and allows you to change it up as much as you like.  I've seen several color options at Sally Beauty Supply.

2. Cream Shadow - Typically used as eyeshadow, the growing trend is to use it to add pops of color to your hair. {read more HERE} I know one brand that is quite popular is the Shea Moisture Eye Shadow. They have a really nice blue and it takes well to the hair giving a vibrant pop of color.

3. Wigs - Whether you're buying a wig or making one, you can dye your unit to give you the color you've always desired without having to color your own hair. In some cases, you can find a unit that has already been colored so less work for you!

4. Crochet Braids - Listen, not only has the crochet game come a long way but the hair and color options have as well. There are so many varieties of colors and now with doing a rod set on your crochet braids, many will think you've colored your own tresses.

5. Color Spray - Color hair spray was out many years ago and has made a bit of a come back. You can find several options of color and they're pretty easy to find at most beauty supply stores. I know when I used it some time back, it lasted until I washed it so it's a great option.

Here are a few of my favorite colors that would be great for the summer!
