Natural Styles for Prom w/ Videos

By Sumetra Reed

Hey beauties!

Like most people, I really look forward to my weekends.  For me it's a time to relax, catch up on shows on my DVR and chill with hubby. We typically go out to eat so we can get out of the house and enjoy some us time.  A week or so ago, we were eating at the Galleria Mall and I see a group of teenagers walk in all dressed up in their formal dresses and tuxedos and I had a flashback to my prom. Yep, it's prom season!  With more and more young ladies embrassing their natural hair, I wanted to share a few simple style ideas that would be great for prom or any formal event.

Style One | The Braided Halo

The braided halo is a classy look that can be worn to any special occasion. The great thing about this look is that you can dress it up with hair accessories like a flower or baby's breath.  Regardless of hair length or texture, you can achieve this look. You can stretch your hair and keep a textured look or do a blowout to give it more of a smooth finish.  For those with shorter hair, you can add braid hair to give your halo braid more fullness.  For the textured look you can use marley hai and for a smooth look you can go with kanekalon hair.

Style Two | Simple Pull Back

This look is simple yet chic. When my hair was longer, I could achieve this look on an old braid out or twist out. But I'd your hair isn't long enough to get the fullness you desire, in the tutorial below, she uses clip ins to add texture and fullness to create this style!

Style Three |  Fold & Tuck Headband

This prom/formal look is great for those who want something natural and effortless.  What's great about this style is you can change the look just by choosing a headband with some bling or going with a headband with a more simple look. So for those who want to wear their hair down but still want to add a little something special, this is a great option for you.
