Curl Talk Q & A: Is Straight Or Curly Hair Better For Special Occasions?
By Ebony Clark-Bomani
Q: Hi Ebony. These past few months have been stressful, planning a wedding and all. Add choosing a hairstyle into the mix and it's almost a recipe for a mini stroke. My family is very conservative and they are nudging me to wear my hair straight for our wedding because "it'll look more elegant." My fiancé says that it doesn't matter, but I think he'd like to see my hair straight too. Would it be better to wear my hair straight for this special occasion? -PB-
A: Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!!! Planning any occasion can be challenging, but especially weddings!!! Many people deem straight hair to be more desirable or more special than curls, coils, kinks, and waves. Personally, I see straight hair as just another styling option---a change from the monotony of highly-textured hair. Curly hair, in itself, is special and is more than worthy to be worn on special occasions. It's beautiful! Allow your curls to adorn you in all their majestic splendor. Wear them as a crown on your beautiful head. There are so many lovely women who have done just that and were EXTRAORDINARILY gorgeous on their wedding day. Styling options are endless, but to narrow it down, decide if you want your hair up or down...loose or in a braided/twisted style. Either way, I'm positive that you'll look like the queen that you are!!!
What do you think? Is only straight hair worthy for special occasions?
